As you know, I belong to the ABC (Association of Bridal Consultants), an association that brings together people from the wedding and event planning industry since 1981.
I was fortunate to attend the Annual Conference of the ABC this year, which, for the first time, took place outside the United States on the beautiful island of Jamaica at Sandals Whitehouse Hotel.
In summary, during the Conference I learned that there are things we need to constantly work on and the importance of updating every day. But, the most valuable knowledge I acquired was the importance of meeting people engaged in what you do to share experiences and best practices.
So, I met Rosa Amelia Brou. My Peruvian friend initiated in the fabulous world of organizing weddings and events in 2004. Since she considers herself a foodie she started in the catering business in Lima, later on she expanded to include not only delicious meals and incredible service but designs to create perfect atmospheres through event production.
While the conference was taking place we kept talking and sharing experiences from our former and current clients. We started to realize Mexican and Peruvian wedddings are far from being the same format, even though our cultures, language and idiosyncrasy are practicly the same.
So, we decided to create an intercultural experience to learn how weddings are planned and performed in other countries.
Therefore, Rosa Amelia will come to assist at a wedding in February and, in turn, I'll go to Peru with her in June.
So, let's see how it turns out!
